Our pre-dance program is a magical introduction into the world of dance. Our passionate University qualified instructors use a creative movement approach to facilitate the life long-learning and imagination of your young dancer. Dancers will be introduced to movement and music concepts so that they can develop the basic coordinations required as they continue on in dance. Props, storybooks and music play are used to engage your dancer and solidify dance concepts.
Here at the Oakville Academy an open door policy is the standard which means you are welcome to join your little one in class to create a smooth transition. Once your child is comfortable you can watch them through our windows and view their progress at our viewing weeks through the year.
As part of the registration, each dancer receives a pink dance skirt with our compliments. Our year end celebration of their learning takes place in the form of a Tea Party at the studio where little dancers will perform for friends and family. Class space fills up quickly so don’t hesitate to register your little dancer so they do not miss out.

Our Baby Ballet Classes are designed to develop movement concepts and coordination. Your child will learn about level, shape, speed, dynamics, body parts and relationships. Musical concepts are incorporated and your young ballet dancer will respond to changes in rhythm, tempo and articulation. We consider the total development of your child by integrating foundational ballet technique with mime, creative movement, props and musical play. Our classes are a warm and welcoming place to develop social and emotional skills. When your dancer waits their turn to twirl across the floor they practice patience, empathy and encouragement for others in addition to a new movement skill. Baby Ballet classes are a natural progression towards our Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Exam program. They will complete the season by performing in our Junior Recital.

Kinder Ballet is a natural progression from Baby Ballet. Continuing with a creative approach, dancers will learn basic ballet technique and vocabulary. Movement and music concepts are integrated into each class to build strong kinesthetic awareness. Students will learn the groundwork for Royal Academy of Dance Pre-Primary Ballet. With our small class sizes your child will get focused time to develop their skills as well as their own imaginative dance style. They will complete the season by performing in our Junior Recital.

Pre-Primary ballet is a Royal Academy of Dance class. It offers a syllabus of steps and technique to develop physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality. Through participation and practice, your dancer will learn to demonstrate body and spatial awareness, co-ordination and control of movement, and a heightened sense of musicality and expression. Pre-Primary ballet is fun and engaging while fostering a foundation of technique for ballet and other styles of dance. At the end of the season, Dancers have the opportunity to present their ballet skills by participating in the Royal Academy of Dance Class Awards. The class will also participate in our year end Junior Recital.

Primary Ballet is suited for dancers who are 6-7 years of age. This Royal Academy of Dance class offers a Syllabus the dancers follow to develop physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles. Through participation and practice, your dancer will learn to demonstrate body and spatial awareness, co-ordination and control of movement, and a heightened sense of musicality and expression. This strong foundation prepares students for a successful transition into higher levels of ballet, and other dance genres. At the end of the season, Dancers have the opportunity to present their ballet skills by participating in either the Royal Academy of Dance Class Awards or Examinations. This class will also participate in our year end Senior Recital.

Continuing with a creative approach, dancers will learn dance technique and vocabulary. Movement and music concepts are integrated into each class to build strong kinesthetic awareness. Students will learn ballet basics for one half of the class with a focus on movement concepts and basic ballet coordination. The other half of the class will be spent learning the energetic dance form of Jazz with emphasis on dynamic and strong steps and progressions. Our instructors help your dancer develop a sense of rhythm, coordination, fitness and love of dancing. Hip Hop dancers will complete the season by performing in our Junior Recital.
